GRAZZI ♡ THANK YOU
“Sustain-Delay’s final concert was held on Friday, 21 November 2025.
It brought to a joyous close our two-year programme of adventurous music at the Malta Society of Arts. The day after, we received the wonderful news that Sustain-Delay had been shortlisted for Il-Premju għall-Arti, the national arts prize, in the Best Multidisciplinary Production category.
We are elated.
In the past two years, we travelled through many sounds and places: from stone-cutting percussion and medieval music, to ambient explorations and experimental incursions on flute and harp, from techno in a club to piano recitals in a formal concert hall, to name but a few.
One of the greatest, and most pleasant of surprises, was that interest from the public never waned – if anything, it increased. This is heartening. It showed us that, if properly cared for, adventurous music has a future (as indeed does playfulness and experimentation in the arts in general), and Maltese audiences are more open-minded and engaged than we sometimes give them credit for.
In total, we hosted over 14 events, ranging from concerts and workshops, to participative dance demonstrations and informal lectures. We hope that, even if only temporarily, we created a space where people could experiment, let loose, and also step outside their comfort zone.
We would like to, once again, thank Arts Council Malta for seeing Sustain-Delay’s potential.
But, in particular, we would like to express our immense gratitude for the support, trust and curiosity shown by everyone who played at, attended or supported Sustain-Delay.
We will be back, emboldened by the success of this two-your programme with a new name and concept – but first we need to rest.
It has been a true pleasure.”
